The CWA present "Crime, Mystery and the Short Story"

Sunday October 13th. 1.00pm at St Mark's Church Hall

We, as festival organisers are huge advocates of the short story and so this event is very close to our hearts.

Members of the Crime Writers' Association, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, talk about their love of short crime fiction - is the short story's resurgence really such a mystery?
On the panel will be Michael Ridpath, L C Tyler and Alison Joseph and it will be chaired by Ayo Onatade.

Michael Ridpath spent eight years as a bond trader in London before giving up his job to write full-time.  He is the bestselling author of eight financial thrillers and has been published in 38 languages.  Where the Shadows Lie is the first in a new series featuring detective Magnus Jonson.

LC Tyler is a British writer of comic crime fiction. His Elsie and Ethelred mysteries feature Ethelred Tressider, a crime writer, and Elsie Thirkettle, his literary agent. His 2007 novel The Herring Seller's Apprentice was (rightly) nominated for an Edgar Award for "Best Paperback Original".

Alison Joseph is  author of the series of novels featuring Sister Agnes, a contemporary detective nun based in South London. Sister Agnes has also appeared in a drama series on BBC Radio 4. Alison has written about twenty works for radio, including The True Story and One Down, which was an interactive daily drama with input via a website.

Chairing this will be Ayo Onatade, a well known blogger and reviewer who has a particular crime fiction.

The talk coincides with the Association's annual short story anthology, which will be available at the festival. Members of the panel will be happy to sign copies for you.

Tickets are available here.
